Your developer has gone. Your system hasn't.
The company that built it has closed, or the person who maintained it has retired or moved on. The system still runs the business, and nobody is looking after it. We take on systems like yours: we work out exactly what you have, fix what needs fixing, and keep it moving forward.

Request a free system review
Tell us what you can about the system. We reply within one working day, look at what you have, and give you our view in writing, without obligation.

First we find out what you've got. Then we tell you, in writing.
Systems that have lost their developer usually have two problems: nobody knows what is in them, and nobody knows what it would cost to find out. We solve the second one by making the first one free.
"We don't have the source code." "We don't know what it's written in."
Both are common and neither is the end of the road.
No source code? Start with the data.
The database is usually the part that matters most and can almost always be worked with directly. Compiled applications can often be understood, and where something is genuinely lost it can be rebuilt one piece at a time.
Don't know the technology? We'll find out.
If it was built on Microsoft in the last 25 years (Access, VB6, classic ASP, ASP.NET, Blazor, Windows Forms, WPF, SQL Server) we have almost certainly worked with it. The first job of the review is to tell you what you have.
Worried we'll say "replace it"? We usually don't.
Most systems that still do the job are worth keeping and improving. If a replacement really is the right answer we will say so, in writing, with the reasons, and we will plan it in stages so the business never stops.
Twenty years of building on a music service's system.
A UK local authority's music service runs instrumental lessons across around seventy schools. We were asked to look at its classic ASP system in 2006 because the previous developer was no longer available. We took on its support, modernised the front end in 2009, added what the service needed over the years, and in 2026 moved it to Microsoft Azure without interruption.
The same system, steadily improved, has now run the service for two decades.
Read the case study →- 2006: took over support of a classic ASP system when its developer became unavailable
- 2009: front end migrated to ASP.NET, same database, no retraining
- Communication, reporting and server migrations handled as the service's needs changed
- 2026: moved to Azure App Service and Azure SQL, with Microsoft Entra authentication

Building on IT Limited has built and maintained data-driven systems on the Microsoft stack for more than two decades. You talk to the developer who looks at your system, not an account manager, and the systems we build for clients are still running, and still being improved, many years after launch.
