Go Helios - Plant selector
Project Type: Web Application
Completed 2008
|
Background
GoHelios is the home of the national plant specification. This data is used by landscape architects to define the planting for projects.
GoHelios already has a website with some data available in PDF format. However, they wanted a searchable and database driven site that would integrate the publicly available data with their subscription service for plant specifiers.
Public Site
The data is searchable by non-subscribers but only to a point. They get to see the plant lists and specifications generally available for purchase in the UK but can not see or search the more detailed plant characteristics and photographs.
There is also an extensive information centre providing detail on how the main types of plants are specified.

Subscription Site
The subscription only site enables specifiers to search the national plant specification to a very high level of detail.
They can then inspect the detailed characteristics of plants meeting their requirements together with photographs.
Integration to CAD
Once the specifier is happy with their selection the results can be output to a palette compatable with Artisan, an industry leading CAD package for landscape architects.
